What is Group Transport?
Group Transport is a service PCT provides for local community groups and organisations to use PCT minibuses, when they are not required for other services provided by PCT. This is usually at the weekend or evenings but sometimes the minibuses are available during the daytime of the week.
Who can use the service?
Any community group or organisation can use the Group Transport service, from youth organisations and churches bringing members to services to theatre and concert trips.
Who can drive?
To make the service cheaper for you and to increase your chances of being able to make use of our service, it is best to have a volunteer from your group that can drive the minibus. As an additional service, we can train your volunteer or volunteers to a nationally recognised minibus driver standard
How much is it?
Our costs are based on; a booking fee, plus a mileage charge for the journey plus the cost of our driver’s time (where required). We will happily provide you an estimate for your trip. We also have a multi-purpose vehicle that is wheelchair accessible for smaller qualifying groups.
There are different legal provisions for minibus drivers, and which category your driver falls into depends on when they passed their driving test. It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that they meet the necessary legal provisions. Preston Community Transport is not responsible for checking such legal requirements. Please see the DVLA website for more information.
