What are they?
We run a number of trips per month. The number we run is limited by the availability of suitable vehicle and of a driver. We make every effort to run as many as possible - demand is always high.
Where do they go?
We try to make a trip coincide with something interesting happening or go to a place which has lots of things to see and do. Past trips have been to Bury Market, Chester (including a drop at Chester Zoo), Skipton and Dobbies Garden Centre and Lytham. We're always looking for other places to run a trip to and welcome suggestions.
How does it work?
In the first week of the preceding month (e.g. July for August), we prepare a list of places that we can go in that month. The list is displayed on our buses and at the Mobility Centre in Chapel Yard. You can see next months on this website under the "Next Month's Trips" page.
When we get over 12 people the trip is confirmed (max is 16). We call you the day before to confirm and tell you what time we will pick you up.
We pick you up at your house or wherever you want to be picked up, take you there and then take you home again at the end of the day.
What does it cost?
Preston Community Transport is a not-for-profit, community based organisation. We are an independant Charity (not part of the County Council!).
As such the charges for the trips are calculated solely to cover the basic costs per mile of running the trip. Current prices range from £6 to £12 (these may change).
If there is insufficient interest we will cancel a trip. If this happens we will contact you and let you know in good time. However, on occasion we may run the trip at a loss solely at the discretion of Preston Community Transport.
What do I do now?
The lists will be out for two full weeks before we take any bookings - please do not try to book before the date stated on the list.
Book by calling 01772 204 667. We need your name, contact details and if you use any mobility equipment. If you want to bring a carer, they will need to pay and we'll need their name and contact details too.
Please only book if you are sure you will be able to come. If you book and then cancel with less than 24 hours notice, not only will you still have to pay, you will deprive someone else a place. We understand that sometimes its impossible to give 24 hours notice but please try.
